After you've selected your hot target and created or aquired an information product to sell, then starts the website creation process. And before we actually put the website together, we first need to find and register a domain name.
- should be a .com name
- should be short
- easy to type
- easy to pronounce
- memorable
- keyword rich (should have a keyword of the hot market or your product in it)
Because so many domain names have been purchased till date, your choice will be pretty limited. You'll soon find that many of the best names you came up with are already registered by some one else. So what to do? Simple.
Invent names and terms.
If you open your dictionary, you won't find the term "Hotsheet" in it. And because the word is new, I could easily find pretty good domain names. (NetHotsheet.com, TimeHotsheet.com, MarketingHotsheet.com) (Disclosure: I didn't coin the term Hotsheet. My friend and marketer Gordon Jay Alexander coined it. I simply borrowed it from him.)
Invent terms that are catchy. Invert terms that have never been used before - but when people hear it, they know the meaning of it instinctively. The easiest way to achieve this hard thing is to take another word and tweak it a bit. (Hotsheet is derived from "cheatsheet.")
It really is easy and fun to come up with new terms. It does take some thinking and time though. But its worth the time.
Domain Name Suggestion Tools
Here are a few more websites which you can use to come up with domain name suggestions. How they work is you fill in a key word or two and then it'll come up with a list of all the domain names available including those words or words with the same meaning.
Registering the Domain Name
The best site to register your domain name is:

It might not be the cheapest. But its pretty cheap and always lower than $9.50. You might find another website that sells domain names for a dollar or two less. But for an extra dollar or two, you'll be secure in registering your domain with GoDaddy - the biggest domain registrar out there. They have a very good customer support system and will help you solve any problems quickly. And their control panels are very secure.
