PR - Getting Free Publicity

The best way to launch not only any website, but any and all businesses is through the power of PR. Some people disregard PR because of its many disadvantages, such as:

  • You can't control your message
  • You can't control the timing
  • You can't control how the message looks
  • You can't be sure if the message will even reach your hot market

But the disadvantages are insignificant compared to the advantages of PR:

  • Its almost Free - if you play the PR game right, a full page article could be written about you for the cost of a 25 cent fax!

Wrong Way to do PR

Most people who play the PR game don't know how to play it well. They send out press releases to the media. And if they are lucky and the newspapers and magazines they send their press releases to have space to fill, they'll write a 2 paragraph blurb about the website in the 4th last page.

      Thats not how you do it. Press releases should be written in such a way that it elicits the writer to call you and interview you. Thats the only way you can have cover stories written about you and your website.

      Imagine this: you could buy a full page ad for $5,000-50,000 in a magazine and people wouldn't believe your message. Or you could send a killer press release and have a reporter call you and write an article on you - all for 25 cents - the price of sending a press release through fax! What would you prefer?
